Online Video is NOT hard

The other day I met with an SEO consultant in Christchurch, NZ. I have amazing respect for this person and the work they do offering free advice, running an online education company about SEO and working with clients. I needed an outsiders view of a website I was working on and during our time I asker her about online video and why was she not doing this for her business.

“Online video is to hard” before she had even finished I said “It’s not hard!”

People believe that online video is something thats hard to do, something thats going to take ages to get filmed, edited, produced and online, and that its going to be expensive. ITS NOT. In the world we live in today online video is NOT hard, its actually very easy and with the right process and plan you can be knocking out videos each week for your customers.

Some of the key things to get sorted early are;

  • Figure out your content and stick to it
  • Create a simple introduction to each video that you can use each time
  • Create a simple closing to each video that you can use each time
  • Understand the process to upload to YouTube or TubeMogul etc
  • Make the videos on a subject you are passionate about

If you focus on getting these items in place early then all you have to do is record the content, drop it into windows movie maker or iMove (mac), place your start and end, export to youtube and name your video once its up.

I know that I make it sound far to easy but I know that it can be. At the moment I am looking to launch a regular online show about online video for business, I am spending time to get a good angle on the content I want to talk about, I am building the intro, I am research about 30 -40 topics I can talk about so I always have content to talk about right from the start.

I don’t want the process to be a big drain on my time and I bet you feel the same, focus on getting your process in place, talk about something you know and have a lot of ideas ready to go.

If you feel online video is still to hard or you have any questions please place them in the comment section below, I will answer each and every one of them personally.
